Lorna has always been involved in the arts. She attended a pewter workshop in 2000 and has been involved with this medium ever since. In her Pewter Art Lorna expresses both the mood of the ancients as well as the vibrancy of modern Africa. Her designs have caught the public eye as well as the appreciation of interior designers, who express their vision using authentic objects and symbols. Pewter has been around since man started using metal alloys, for household utensils and art. Early pewter was a lead and tin based product, but modern pewter sheeting is mainly lead free. In Lorna's hands this malleable metal is transformed into complex, highly detailed designs, reflecting the light of its surrounds. This is why her art fits into the expression of the Interiors vision. It does not compete for space, it enhances it. The broad expression of Lorna's art, including pewter busts or torsos, company and personal seals, corporate logos, stained glass window inserts, moldings, table tops and unique art works, thrills the senses with the authenticity of the material, intricacy of design and sympathetic finish. This is an expression of art that has not been seen before.

PEWTER ART - YOUR INSPIRATION GUIDE I was approached by Elize Roodt in 2014 to be a contributor to a book that she was writing. Elize is a top pewter artist and educator in this medium. We have journeyed for 16 years on the trail of pewter. We are  both passionate about pewter as an art form and to this end she sought the pewter artists who had made a name for themselves. So I am very privileged to be part of the book “ Pewter Art” written by Elize and published by Lapa Publishers. This book can be found in many art shops and also in most Exclusive Books branches.
